You Can't Have it All

But you can have the light at sunrise and the dark at sundown,
like a beginning and end.
You can have the honking of street cars,
outside your window wake you on weekdays,
and the sound of a rooster on weekends by the tropical countryside;
at 5 AM,
as you trow the pillow over your head and dream of falling,
back into the deep sleep you left behind.
You can have rainbows after thunderstorms,
palm trees instead of pine on Christmas,
and your garden watered almost year-round,
without it being reflected on your water bill.
You can have chocolated and roses delivered to yourself on Valentines,
even if you are single and so-called ready to mingle.
You can have an "I love you," out of the blue,
that can turn that frown upside down.
But can't stay mad at someone who makes you laugh,
no matter how hard you try.
You can have can have blue eyes as deep as the Pacific Ocean,
and dirty blonde hair that you will some day be like Rupunzels,
if it weren't for the spit ends and sharp sissors.
You can have a giggle that rings and echos like bells in an empty room,
that can conquer even your enemies affection.
You can have a pair of worn and washed out blue jeans that fit just right,
even if you haven't found them yet,
just keep searching, they're out there, just like prince charming.
You can have your bestfriend buy you dimonds.
You can have the perfect shoes,
but you can't have just one valid credit card after a shopping spree in Manhattan.
You can have all your love to give,
you can have all your life to live,
but be nothing if not shared.
You can have the little voice in the back of your head,
that whipsers and whines, and tells you to "Do the right thing."
You can have an angel and a devil stand on each of your shoulders,
but only your heart to lead the way.
You can have dreams you can make reality.
You can have reality be better than your dreams
You can have whatever won't break your bank account,
but you can't have it all.
